Have any of you shopped at Victoria Secret? If so, how you like it compared to any other brands?
Weather you got bras to makeup what do you think?
I've been there a few times, and I like the products I got. Nice workers there too
I've been inside once or twice, and it seems nice enough; I just can't get over the inflated prices and people willing to pay them!
Kate
I've shopped there and like what I've gotten. Their bras are more expensive than those at other stores, but I have found that they last much longer.
I remember the first Victoria's Secret store that opened in my area, and a friend and I went there. I actually bought a quite ordinary looking terrycloth bathrobe that was made of very thick terry, and I still wear it to this day. It wasn't sexy at all. Then on the other hand, I saw some very sexy panties and bras that were way out of my price range. I mean, come on, a pair of silk panties for over $200? If I spend that much on a pair of panties I'm wearing them on the outside of my clothes so people can see them. LOL
Wow, I didn't know any company made panties that expensive!
I love Victoria's Secret. It's the only place I shop for lingerie. Bras, panties, pijama's--you name it. sexy as hell and they last a lot longer. There's a reason people pay more there then they do at, say, target or wal mart. I don't think I'll give up Vicky's till I'm too old to wear sexy lingerie. lol.
I just got my first bras from Victoria Secret this weekend and I really like them. They look like they are a better quallity than the walmart bras I have gotten. I haven't had them long enough to see how long they will hold up with wear and wash. I always put my bras and more delecket items in a zippered mesh bag to wash and then I hang dry my bras. Running them threw the drier will damidge the elestic. sorr spellings...
I shop there all the time, and some of the items are really quality.
I have purchased lingerie, bras, panties, and body items, like lotions, and such, and I have enjoyed them all.
The price structure is like any place else, they mark things up, but if you wait, or receive the email list, and such, these $200 panties will come down, and most times can be had for less, like say $40 if they are something you really like.
$200 panties are supposed to be worn with no clothes at all. They are for show Becky dear.
Undress and you've got on nice under garments, and it is a turn on!
I'll bet money you ladies even feel good when you've got it on too. Makes you feel sexy and pretty.
Walmart doesn’t compare.
Other brands, or shops I like for the quality and better pricing, would be Fredrick’s Of Hollywood, Three Wishes, some upscale department stores if you are after the same quality, like Nordstrom’s, but not always these, because they don’t have the sales like Victoria’s or the others I talked about.
Bet you didn’t think a guy would post, to this board, did you? Smile.
The staff are extremely helpful, and I’ve gotten advice and general good customer service when I shop, both online and in the physical store.
The other thing they don’t do as well, is the larger sizes as other places, but I suppose that is why the other shops do.
$200 panties really do feel and look better than $1 panties, but buy these on sale. These are overpriced.
When you go in ask the clerks to show you the sales items, you’ll be surprised what you’ll find, and it changes weekly.
Last, they have the most pretty gift bags, or bags in general. When you get your purchase, the packaging is just beautiful, and you hate to toss it. It also is a lovely thing to hand to your girl when you arrive, or when you take her shopping and she walks with it.
agreed with wayne. a hundred percent. I stoped buying bras and panties at wal mart--or any clothes for that matter--when I was about thirteen. lol. The quality just doenst' compare. not at all.
Wayne, I've never cared enough about any man in my life to pay $200 for a pair of panties just for the few seconds he's going to see them before taking them off me. I don't shop at Walmart or any really cheap place either, but I just believe in being practical. You can buy nice lingerie, and as long as it has some lace and is cut to show off your body in the most flattering way, most men aren't going to know whether you paid $200 or $25 for it.
But Becky, the idea is to let him kknow you are wearing nice panties, not now much they cost.
Short skirts do this nicely even if he can't see.
I don't know about you, but I normally don't take my girls panties off after a few seconds. I like her to walk about, and such things in them. Let me touch them on the sly, and well, other stuff.
Bras as well.
I personally wouldn't pay the $200, but buy them on sale. Same panties, just $175 less.
Teddies, and other items are nice as tease garments. Maybe you allow your dress to drop when you hand him his drink, but when you set down he feels or if he can see, sees something sexy. Make him breakfast, lunch in only your lingerie. Guess you know I'm hooked. Smile. Nice!
Actually, I did think a few guys would jump in. I like to hear your thoughts too.
I grew up in a place that didn't even have a walmart. This last year is my first time really getting to go out and shop at places nice. I even had starbucks and dunkin doughnutts for the first in the last year to 2 years.
But back to topic. I got a $15 gift card when I got my things. The lady had also taken off $10 from my total for me. I also got one of those mystery gift cards. I wonder how much I will get. I will have to check on April 1. I could get anything between $10 to $500 she said. But hey, $15 plus just the minimum of $10 is still a nice $25...
Being hopeful for a nice shopping spree!
Unless they have changed a great deal, Frederick's of Hollywood equals irritating fabrics and a far sluttier type of lingerie.
Of course, they cost a lot less than Victoria's Secret.
Who says sluttier type of lingerie is bad when you use it to have fun. lol.
Though I know what you mean. I buy lingerie both for practical reasons and for fun--and both types come from Victoria's secret.
BTW, I dont' know what you people are talking about, I've never paid two hundred bucks for panties!! lol. I always hunt for bargains and discounts, and because VS quality of stuff is good all around, I still end up with knock-out stuff.
I even buy jeans and hoodies there too, as they're sold there as well.
I actually don't like a lot of their perfumes and lotions as they are very fruity and too sweet-smelling for my tastes. I crash Bath And Body works for that stuff usually. Good thing the two stores are next door to each other at my local mall. lol
I am considering buying my lingerie there, now that I've read all this good stuff. And hey, life isn't always practical. If I have sexy lingerie, I don't want my man to take it off right away after he sees/feels it. That's all, lol! :D
I’ll confess I got intrigued by 200 dollar panties, so I went on Victoria Secrets site to see if I could find them. I imagined at that price they might come equipped with the girl for a couple hours.
No luck, but it did make me remember about the Secret Rewards cards I get in the mail now and again, and how easy it is to shop there and really get nice items and not be in the poor house.
It brought a question to mind. Ladies, to you feel the sales items are lesser, so don’t look at them when you go in the store?
This doesn’t apply to the online shop, because it pushes sales, free shipping and all the ways to save you money.
Slutty? Isn't that the reason you buy nice under garments? I'm picky, so won't buy fabricks that are scratchy, and such things. They must feel good, and be comfortable. If I'm not sure, I ask the sales staff for opinions if I'm not online.
Fredricks is no cheaper, and has nice items in my opinion.
Want unsexy, save your money and puy these packages of Fruit Of the Loon. Something like 5 pairs for 6.99.
For this reason is why I started shopping at Victoria Secrets. I figured if I gave the sexy items when I undressed her I'd stop finding these types of under garments with the safety pin in the bra strap, and the hole in the right butt cheek.
Girl undresses out of a nice outfit, and she's wearing Shirly Tempo panties. Should I ask her for her ID, or like, what happened? She was dress so sexy until....
Don't get me started talking about pajamas! Lol!
lol wayne, you crack me up. Holes in the butt cheeks and pinned bras. Do girls really wear that stuf? lol. Only person I know who shops for bras at wal mart is my dear old grandma. don't ask me how I know. lol
Hell no, I go for the sales items. I go straight for the clarance section, but I make sure I'm at a good store like victoria's secret first. lol. Are you kidding me? I'm fresh outa college, I have diapers to buy and my man has an expensive cigar habbit--plus we're house hunting. Of course I don't think less of the sales items...They're a bargain. They allow me to look good for less. that's all I want. I dont' care if it's the style of last fall. lol.
Yair! grandma pajamas and under garments. You can ask me how I know. Lol
OH, if that is happening, a lot of stuff needs to go in the trash...
Reasons.
These are cotton, so comfortable.
That stuff is slutty, and I’m a nice girl.
Why should I buy expensive panties and bras, who’s going to see them?
I can’t afford that kind of stuff.
What fore, he/she will just take them off in a second anyway!
Lingerie is uncomfortable.
Some of these were right here on this board even.
Grin!
I'll jump in here. I love Victoria's secret. There cologne is great. I used to wear it myself when I was a bit younger. Now I think its a bit too immature a scent for me, but that's all personal taste. I also think they're doing a lot of good for the feminine asthetic in the world. It used to be thought of as blasphemus for women to wear something as slutty as a thong. Now you can go into the mall and get them. Its made women just a little more fre, or men if they happen to like those kinds of things. I know some men who like wearing women's underwear, nothing wrong with it.
I also think its kind of interesting that it was started by a man named victor. That story always made me chuckle.
Never knew that, Cody. You learn something new every day--I mean about victor. lol.
Well I, for one, am glad if they have raised the comfort factor. When I was younger, women often thought of lingerie as uncomfortable aesthetic for just men to look at, I guess sort of how many of us guys view the uncomfortable suit and tie with pinched shoes.
I am always glad when some move is made to make things more comfortable for her, if she wants to wear it in the first place.
Oh, and gentlemen, you might try serving her some food in bed while wearing just an apron, see where that gets you.
Ahahaha, Leo! Never thought of that one... Will have to suggest to Mr. Crazy ;)
Kate
@Post7:
What is too old?
I'm glad when I hear people *my* paren'ts generation are still enjoying sexual activities, and all that goes along with it.
you're not gonna be too old for that stuff. That is just a youth-inspired myth.
Maybe in the early 20s people make fun of middle agers for calling it a date to go to the store and walk through the park in between errands and the kids, but date it is if your heart's in the right place. And maybe people think the older folks magically stop having sexual desires, but in assisted living facilities there's as much sex going on as any college campus these days.
All that was an inhibitor before was medical reasons. Don't let yourself be thinking you can get too old or mundane for it, because someday what you now call old will be you.
That stuff is just youth-inspired mythology because we sexualize youth in men and women. Older woman who has given birth is said to not be sexy. I can attest to the very opposite. Older guy who doesn't have Cody's six-pack or Ryan's Greek physique anymore is made out to be some slovenly character. And none of that is true.
You're good to go for as long as you are willing.
Lol cody! this is good stuff... mmmmmm... I don't like the lotions and sprays they have there, but I have to true the lingerie area ... I meant tour
Makes sense, leo. I guess I couldn't imagine myself shopping at victoria's secret when I'm something like seventy--maybe I'll shop at wal mart then like my grandma does now. lol. but true, makes sense. I'm only 24 now, so I guess it's something I can't really relate to yet.
But yes, they do make the sexy lingerie comfortable now. Oh, and guess what? You can still get comfy cotton panties that are more low-key but still high-quality at VS. I mean, the practical every-day stuff.
Oh, and just a little tidbit: I know I may be a little weird, but when I'm feeling sick or I'm in a crappy mood--like today for instance--I love to dress down and look the part. It makes me feel better somehow. It would seem that I'd rather wear something nice to make me feel better, but I have my share of mediocre sweats and those jeans with elastic bands--and yes, some undergarments that I wouldn't go out in or show off--lol--just for those occasions when I'm sick or something. I'll wear the ugliest clothes, maybe because I want people to leave me alone and maybe because I want to be cozy and comfortable to the maximum, or a mix of both--but thats' the way I am. I even saved my maternity clothes for this very occasion. I look like I'm drowing in them, but I'll wear them on purpose for this reason--whereas, most of the women I know wouldnt' be able to stand wearing maternity clothes post-pregnancy. Is this a rare preference or do other people prefer to dress down when they're feeling crappy? lol. I was just curious.
Excuse my ramblings by the way. Like I said, I'm having a crappy day because I'm sleep-deprived but I need to stay up.
Bernadetta,
Nonono, you are SO not alone in this! It is actually more common than you might think. If I feel like crap, I dress DOWN... like OMG yes!
Kate
Sounds pretty natural Bernadetta.
Sad but true, most nice looking clothes make us uncomfortable. Is it because we want to be uncomfortable and ormal, or just circumstance? Who knows?
Anyway, anybody else remember those PSA's in the 1990s, around Valentine's Day, saying how it was demeaning to buy a woman lingerie? They'd always end with, if he buys you lingerie, make him wear it.
I agree with you Bernadetta. :) I think that we dress according to our mood and age. I mean that some things we just don't look good in anymore as we get older
No, I don't remember those leo, but I can imagine it. lol. people still think nowadays that it's "abuse" when a man buys a woman lingerie. They try to say that if he buys you what he wants you to wear, he owns you.
Then there are the christian puritans that get extremely offended if a man buys them lingerie or if he even suggests she ware some... Because, oh, how dirty!!And how objectifying... Oh, and how dare he--it's her duty to have sex with him, but she won't revel in such things...by God, no. lol
I subscribed to some mommy forrums a while back, and a lot of them were those god-fearing types yes, even those my age range, and they were such prudes it was funny. The way they talked and acted, you'd think they never laid down with a man and made a baby. lol
Oh the things I read. I had enough of the circus after a while and I left... Couldnt' talk much sense into them and get them to loosen up, but it was fun trying. lol.
You know, I really like this cotton nightie thing She has, it's not like the silky stuff but it is more of stripedy texture and She kinda flows in it.
What is mainly so attractive about it is She is comfortable in it and likes it.
A contented chick will radiate so much that we have no more use for the sun, moon and stars, you see.
You're not alone bernadetta. When I'm feeling sick, I put on my comfy jammies, (yes I have those, don't judge), and make a cup of tea and watch movies. I think just about everyone with fashion criteria does that.
It isn't cotton that makes them unnice, it is the type.
Everyone has them sweat pants days. Lol.
All of Victor's stuff isn't slutty, but just nice and quality, or good fabrics. Thiings that feel good on the skin.
I don't think it has age on them, I think it depends on how you feel about yourself at 70 and how well you've cared for your body. Sher is about 65 or so and wears some lovely stuff.
There was this girl iin the girl book that was in her 50's, so it is a body think.
I don't think that my body's going to be up for wearing sexy lingerie when I'm seventy. I abuse it too much even now with lack of sleep and a fear of doctors. lol. I'm going to be a scraggly old thing when I'm up there in age. Best live it up now. lol.
Interesting topic.
ok, why?
Any why bother posting that a topic is interesting? If it weren't interesting, several people wouldn't have commented...
Yes, but If I agree or think it's interesting, it would be nice to know why? not
everyone thinks it's interesting for the same reasons
Dolce,
I think you and I are in agreement, though coming at it from a different angle...
You want to know why it's interesting; I don't necessarily care, but just saying "this is interesting" tells no one anything.
Topic derailment over.
Kate
Well, I just think it's interesting.
Well, I think its interesting that you find it interesting. I'm interested in
interests. Its one of my interests. Isn't that interesting?
BTW, Dolce, I think I'm rubbing off on you. You're starting to sound like me.
That's awesome.
Smile. She is at that.
